I have a problem with my startup page. I go into Tools -> Internet Options and set it When I close and re-open it, it works and goes to that page. But if I restart my computer, my startup page changes to some search engine. It started happening a day or two ago when I was surfing. I hate it when some pages spam multiple pop-ups, try to install gator on your computer and add bookmarks for you. I always hit no when any page wants to install anything. 1. How do I remove whatever program or process that keeps changing my startup page every time I restart windows? Thanks for any replies on how to fix this!

I was having the same problem....quite annoying! Once I installed a type of application known as "Spyware", it detected all of the unwanted apps and then gave me the opportunity to delete each one. I used a free version of Spybot (but there are plenty of others to consider) and installed it about 3 months ago. Haven't had a problem since. If interested, we had a similiar discussion on eSignal Central in July. Hope that helps.
I just downloaded and installed the Spybot and it found some things but I'm still having problems with my startup page. Everytime I restart my computer, it sets to http://www.searchv.com/ I've went into regedit, did a search and deleted like 8 different references to this web page. So my registry is completely clean. I reboot and restart IE and it's back again. That is totally wrong for any webpage to change your booksmarks and change your startup page. I have no idea how it keeps changing it back after I removed it from my registry. I'm almost considering removing IE and reinstalling IE. Any other ideas?
