Help removing hard drive from g4

Discussion in 'Hardware' started by jmiles301, Jan 6, 2009.

  1. Hello all,

I'm having trouble finding any help on removing my internal ultra ATA hard drive from my aluminum powerbook g4. I have the system completely opened up and have been looking for ideal ways to take out the hard drive, but I haven't see any that make sense (a fool to think it would be obivious, no doubt). The hard drive appears to simply be 'plugged in' on one side, but there isn't enough room on the other to simply 'unplug' it and lift it out. Also, I have read elsewhere that I need to disconnect the orange IDE tape from the drive by lifting up on it. Well, I have gently lifted up on this piece and it doesn't seem to be doing anything?

    Anyone? Much thanks..

    Jon

I recently looked on YouTube for service information on my laptop (windows, not mac).

There is a LOT of computer service stuff on youtube.

You might try a search on youtube for your problem...

    Good luck!

  4. Thanks for the replies. That was one of the manuals I was looking through last night. Still having issues with mine (unsure of how I exactly take the IDE cable off of it), but hopefully I will work through them.

    Thanks again..
