  1. Low volume day , flat market, ESIGNAL WAS AWESOME!

It only slows down on days where there is much money to be made.

I received a private message from Scott, I thought I would share it with you all and respond in this thread as opposed to replying to his private message.

    *****"Hi there,

We understand how frustrating data problems can be but there may be a way to attack the problem w/o you having to switch vendors."******

This would be the easiest solution for me. I know esignal, I understand how it works and for me to switch to a new platform would be a pain in the rear.
Lets continue with your other comments.

*****" With markets volumes increasing significantly every few months,"*****
This is an excuse. Esignal is consistently behind the curve and has been since its induction. So far not sold.

***** "we are passing a great deal of data down to each user's desktop. While we are working on addt'l ways to compress the feed and mitigate the stream in a few ways,"*****

Thats great. Except... well its been over a year now, and still we are promised a pile of gold at the end of the rainbow that never materilizes.

*****" you currently may be requesting more data than your desktop or ISP can handle."*****

Lets just eliminate this as a possiblity right now.
I have called esignal dozens of times over the past year, and have been told everything is fine with my connection and that there is no packet loss.

To back this up, I have not had a single issue regarding my order entry which also shows real time quotes, open books , market makers. They run on the same feed.
Having tested even further, on different machines, different locations (all with high speed internet connections) and always the same results.

And that is... Esignal slows down to a crawl during times of heavy market activity. Wether its a fed announcement, or a tape bomb , esignal is sure to stop working as soon as the market action picks up.

*****"We have a simple way to determine if records are getting dropped from us to you. You'll just need to call us and have the tech check your username with our QA group."*****

Already done.... about 2 dozen times. And as per esignal support everything is A OK !

***** "If records are dropping, that would explain why it feels slow or sluggish to you. If records are not dropping, that could point to likely issues on our end."*****

It does not "feel" slow or sluggish. It IS slow and sluggish. My feelings have nothing to do with it.

When my orderentry is showing me quotes, at times 10 seconds to 1 minutes ahead of esignal, thats my que.

Or perhaps my order entry actualy bends space time and delves into the future.

*****"Alternatively, you can shoot your username to me and I'll have someone check.

    Thanks."*****

Been there done that. Unless something changed since the last time I called esignal? I have been on the phone with esignal literaly 40 times this past year. Many of my friends no longer call about the same issue because they are resigned to the fact that it will not be fixed and their call does nothing but waste their time.

I too am resigned to the fact that nothing will be done.

And your message did nothing to change my feelings.

Scott, you are certainly one of the reasons why esignal is leading the industry even with its shabby application. The brass there was smart enough to hire dedicated proffesionals with an abundance of patience to play PR and dammage control with PO'd traders like my self.

But it does nothing to fix the issue.

When so many users come forward and tell you they are having similar issues, why not address it?

Why must it be a game of smoke and mirrors?

    Nofear,

I'll definitely keep you posted. You are exactly right about esignal working great when no fast market is going on. In fact it seems to me faster than dtniq. But I know when a volume blast happens esignal almost stops. Its been happening too frequently recently. This is because more and more black boxes and messaging requests have been happening at an almost exponential pace. Its pretty much an arms race among institutions and algo/black box traders for technology. Esignal should be putting in millions into not just keeping up with this but getting ahead of it.

Think about the future esignal. Someone is going to eat your lunch. Volumes on the nas/nyse are probably going to be over 5 billion shares a day per exchange in less than 2 years. I now pay $380 for your product and have been using it for six years. Do you really want to lose traders like me who will be in this business for a long time, or do you want pikers who are going to blow their account and unsubscribe to you within six months. Is your business model to screw professional traders and cater to newbies?

  5. Chuck,

Your lack of commitment early on to multithreading, really reflects your lack of vision and forsight as a business leader.

About three years ago, your customers began asking "Are esignal working on multithreading?"

The response from your company was "Not at this time". And now look what's happening? Your product cannot keep pace with the market.

Esignal should have had a multithreaded app for at least 12 months now. There really is no excuses.

I recently upgraded to esignal 10 which seems exactly the same as 8 except its slower. So after 2 years of precious development, I've now downgraded to 8 on advice from one of your recommended EFS programmers.

His advice "Stick with 8 until they sort out the resourcing issues".

If you're annual bonus was linked to customer satisfaction instead of profit, you'd be eating at the soup kitchen my friend.

I decided a couple of weeks ago to cancel my esignal subscription. I got tired of it crashing all the time and telling me to send them a "Crash Report".

Well I'm done with esignal. Unfortunately I signed up for a 1-yr subscription so my account officially won't be cancelled until next July.
