I was just speaking to one of my traders and he did a search on the internet for his name, which is also his esignal username, and this popped up on google: http://share.esignal.com/groupcontents.jsp?folder=859&groupid=217 esignal's crash test report. when esignal crashes and generates a report it goes into a log which is accessable by google's search crawlers. The list is all username's and some email addresses. If you're on the list, change your username. Twang2
Anybody else's Esignal lagging hugely this morning? My esig data's at least 15 seconds behind order entry data.
Chud, I had probelms today but really am past the point of posting. I restarted esignal a few times and things improved somewhat. I continue to watch level2's on my order entry to know where the "real" prices are.
In response to several posts in this thread, I wanted to point out that both products, Investor/RT and MarketDelta, have received special attention in the area of efficiency with respect to both the handling of incoming data, as well as redrawing. These improvements began in 8.9.6 and continue into the current 9.0 beta builds. The net result will be, regardless of what data service is feeding the program, it is much better equipped to handle larger influx of data. The redrawing improvements will result in an elimination of any previous noticed flicker or flashing during fast moving markets / frequent price changes. I can't speak to any delays within the specific data feeds, or within the client applications (data manager, etc) of those data vendors, but I did want to point this out. I/RT 9.0 Beta 4 can be downloaded from: http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/win/beta/irt_win_90b4.exe
No disrespect intended, but it doesn't make any difference. We have been on here over and over saying that one of the main trading vehicles, the ES, lags very badly under several different sets of market conditions. That is enough. If the ES lags, other tickers lag. eSignal has essentially acknowledged that their servers aren't up to the task, but they're unwilling or unable to do anything about it. At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseam, eSignal is a retail feed for retail traders. Perfection should not and cannot be expected. If you want perfection, or as close to it as to be indistinguishable from it, you should get ready to pay big money. The point is that eSignal is wildly overpriced. I had to call eSignal on Tuesday morning. I called at 8:40 EST. I waited on hold for 20 minutes. That's three times as long as I have ever had to be on hold for a rep at that favourite target, IB, and is simply not acceptable.
Hi TraderNik, The reason why I ask about instruments is because i experince no delays with esignal for DAX futures feeding esignal data into ninja trader. Can you please plug your feed into ninja and see if ES delays still appear. Ninja is free and it should not take you too long to test it. Thanks. redduke
RedDuke, I've already discussed this issue with the developer of two programs, my own front end and the charting software I use. If you have no problems, that's great. Although I am not a tech guy, I'm aware that one set of customers may experience problems that another doesn't as is the case with IB pink-outs/disconnects, which several guys on here have figured out have to do with which 'gateway' you're on, or something similar. The problem is that these companies just say 'The problem is your computer'. Would DTN/IQ say anything different? I'm sure they wouldn't. I've just become convinced that there wouldn't be any appreciable difference in terms of quality between eSignal and the other cheaper retail feeds, whereas I used to believe that eSignal was soemhow more reliable than DTN/IQ etc., and that's why I would be paying twice as much for it. That's why I chose it when I needed an intraday feed. Anyhow, I'm done bitching and complaining about it. I usually just vote with my feet, and that's what I'll do here.
