Wonder how long this trend can continue...... Go big government!!! Disability Ranks Outpace New Jobs In Obama Recovery More workers joined the federal government's disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation's jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery. The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration. The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama's economic recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits. In other words, the number of new disability enrollees has climbed 19% faster than the number of new jobs created during the sluggish recovery. http://news.investors.com/article/6...ility-climbs-faster-than-jobs-under-obama.htm
"Hee hee?" Two things. First, to equate America's political and economic reality with Marxism, you clearly have no concept of the term. Second, you are evidently taking pleasure in America's current economic struggle. How patriotic.
Here's the link: http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/cesbd.htm. I just read it briefly but it here's the gist. Because new companies can't be surveyed in a timely manner, the model the govt uses excludes business deaths to compensate. there is another 'part' that adjusts the birth/death rate using actual births/deaths over the last five years. TT is right that for June, if you take away the adjustment, the 80k number would be negative.. but that number is seasonally adjusted, while the birth death rate uses the non seasonally adj number, which for June (on the CES site) is 391k.. The number from the Bureau of Labor: http://stats.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.b.htm is the number that we generally use. they are different because one is seasonally adjusted and the other is not. in the Q&A section of the CES site (1st link) it says that the adjustment cannot be applied to the seasonally adjusted change, which is the 80k May to June change.
Marxism is my loosely applied term for "all govt/no private sector" brought to us by the party of the little guy.. we're about 78% there... I suppose that it could be termed feudalism or something.. and I might as well take pleasure, I've seen it coming for decades and there is not much I can do to stop it. I'm not a handwringer by nature..
============ Patriotic, well its that time of the year. The part is not the whole; any more than a Marxist prof stands for the whole of education Saw book this month titled ''Chicago; City of Scoundrels'' Dont know if it reaches 78% or not
http://www.bls.gov/web/empsit/cesbd.htm It's a fudge the BLS uses to estimate the creation/destruction of jobs outside of the polling sample it conducts. Of course, it always over-estimates the creation of jobs (by hundreds of thousands of jobs) which it then reduces in annual corrections. Of course, those corrections are never taken into account when the job number is spoken of. As you see in the above table, The BLS estimates all these jobs being created (this is a table of JUST birth/death adjustments), which makes the job creation number positive many months of the year, and the media trumpets positive job numbers. Then, annually, the BLS corrects these numbers and it's called a "seasonal adjustment". What a farce.
