hedge fund starts a low cost broker

    Why doesn't a hedge fund start a low cost broker, not to make money, but to see what strategies work/can be copied.

    For big shops, wouldn't this be a form of cheap research?

    Perhaps it has been done and we just dont know? :)
     
  2. (1) Monroe Trout (Rand Company) did that in the mid-90's. (2) Instead of imitating profitable clients, you can always "fade" the unprofitable customers.
