Climate change could drive to extinction as many as one in six animal and plant species, according to a new analysis. In a study published Thursday in the journal Science, Mark Urban, an ecologist at the University of Connecticut, also found that as the planet warms in the future, species will disappear at an accelerating rate. “We have the choice,” he said in an interview. “The world can decide where on that curve they want the future Earth to be.” As dire as Dr. Urban’s conclusions are, other experts said the real toll may turn out to be even worse. The number of extinctions “may well be two to three times higher,” saidJohn J. Wiens, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Arizona. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/05/s...on®ion=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well&_r=0
Before man even showed up on the face of the earth, 25 species went extinct each day. The overall extinction rate will not be impacted much at all by man's presence on the earth. The elimination of particular species (e.g. whales and wolves) is impacted by man's presence on earth. However the elimination of far more species has to do with other predators and diseases rather than man. This is an article making a fuss over nothing.
what a joke you are fraudcurrents. you sell greenhouse gases for a living. are you destroying species and warming the planet. start with post to your yourself before you lie about those astronauts, engineers and climate scientists. Science denying Faux News Republicans all. My dentist says the same thing and he, like them, also is not qualified to talk about the science. Plus, they are just plain wrong. The basic science is settled. Only complete idiots, or right wing sheep (same thing) say otherwise.
The basic science is settled. Done. They are moving on to the details. Do try to keep up.
FC and the Global Warming Cabal
What with riots / Obama disappointment and Hillary getting into trouble, the Republicans are probably going to take the executive branch in 2016. Doesn't matter if it's science or not. They'll defund climate science and it will go away. Look at what happened in Australia.
