I wokeup today, ready to paper trade...I thought it was Saturday...the charts were the same, locked.
I refreshed my browser like five times, tried multiple websites to see the same chart...until I realized today was a Holiday.

Why is this "rare"? Weren't markets closed last Good Friday? Aren't they closed every Good Friday?

 

Maybe the topic starter considers the fact that the options expiry coincides with a holiday a rare occasion.

 

Other markets in Europe will also have a holiday on Monday, thus four day weekend.
