Republicans are not in fantasy land though in thinking that teachers without any firearms will not be able to defend themselves. You are an extremely misguided individual taking your cues from your leaders.
So, you’re looking at the world total of school massacres. The dates range back to like 1975 or so and besides America, there are very few countries with multiple shootings because they took sensible action. If you’re on you phone visit the page, go to the list, focus on the country column and swipe up. You’ll notice as the flags are scrolling by there’s so many American school shootings.
There have been firearms in this country since it's inception and over time, gun laws have only gotten stricter, yet violent acts like this have sprung up and increased. ---Guns are not the issue--- Society is the issue---specifically the move away from traditional values into a more secular society. ---Since we can't put the values issues back in the bottle right away, there is only one answer right now and that is protection. All schools and other public places need to learn how to defend themselves. There needs to be on-site, well trained security personnel with GUNS that are not afraid to use them if necessary. Perpetrators love "gun free " zones where they are the only ones carrying weapons. We need to put an end to their comfort zones.
Folks don't like to hear it, but the biggest issue in this country is the decline of the two parent family. Children are growing up without a male role model. Why is this happening? It is due to the government rewarding people for creating single parent households. Males don't act responsibly because they know govt will subsidize their carelessness. Males are free to roam and spread their seed wherever they feel like because it's ok in today's world. ---Balance the budget and cut way back on "welfare" and you will begin to see things turn around.
Nearly all the countries on the list appear multiple times including (but not limited to) - China, Germany, Canada, Russia, Israel, Brazil, Finland, etc.)
I do think there are some measures that should be done, as discussed in the gun control thread. However, I do agree with sentiment of this article. Every Single Government Authority Failed In Parkland. And They Expect Americans To Forfeit Our Self-Defense Rights To Them? Michael Laughlin/Sun Sentinel/TNS via Getty Images ByBEN SHAPIRO @benshapiro February 23, 2018 On Thursday night, the American public learned two bombshell pieces of information regarding the Parkland, Florida mass shooting. First, we learnedthat the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was told in November that the Parkland shooter “could be a school shooter in the making” but deputies didn’t bother to write up a report; that report “came just weeks after a relative called urging BSO to seize his weapons.” Then, in even more shocking news, we learned that an armed school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School sat outside and waited for four minutesduring the six minute attack that ended in the deaths of 17 human beings. So, here’s what we know. We know the FBI was warned specifically about the Parkland shooter not once, but twice – and did nothing. We know the Broward County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home of the Parkland shooter at least 39 times since 2010. We know that the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was warned multiple times about the Parkland shooter. We know that an armed officer was present during the shooting and did nothing – and that JROTC students showed far more courage. And yet we are told that the solution to mass shootings is for law-abiding citizens to give more authority to the authorities that failed, and to turn over our only way of protecting ourselves? Why in the world would a single law-abiding gun owner hand over his or her weapon to the same authorities that did nothing to protect the children of Parkland? Why would a single law-abiding gun owner turn over his or her capacity for self-defense to people who were incapable of defending children at every step of the way? And why in the world should we blame the NRA, which literally had nothing to do with Parkland, for the failures of every institutional barrier to a massacre? Why should we blame law-abiding gun owners who didn’t shoot up kids for the failures of those who are paid to do stop evil monsters like the Parkland shooter? Why should we take Sheriff Steve Israel seriously when he blames lack of gun control, Dana Loesch, and the NRA, rather than his own radical incompetence and the radical incompetence of those under his authority? Children are dead not because millions of good citizens own AR-15s, but because dozens of pathetic incompetents and cowards in a position to do somethinginstead did nothing. All the misdirection in the world isn’t going to change that inconvenient fact. https://www.dailywire.com/news/27491/every-single-government-authority-failed-parkland-ben-shapiro
Sheltering in place doesn’t jibe with arming 20% of teachers. That means only approximately 20% of students would be in the middle of a shoot out. The rest of them are still sitting ducks. The only real way to do this is to stop the shooter outside of the building. You need armed security with at least ARs who have tactical military training. This is close quarters combat, a la Falluja (sp), we are talking about. These shooters are coming in with a plan and prepared for many scenarios. A shaky algebra teacher huddled in a corner with a pistol isn’t that much of a deterrent.
And Trump and republicans want to put school children in the middle of a CQB firefight with nervous as shit teachers with no actual combat experience and a lunatic with an AR-15 on a rampage, what could go wrong there
