It is true that an armed teacher or other staff who are inside the school and in the line of fire are more likely to use a gun without needing any pep talk. Even being dependent on the "finest law enforcement agency in the world/The Federal Bureau of Incompetence for your protection is a roll of the dice. You may think that if you see something and do something that something will happen but they may toss the message in the wastebasket and go back to Tweeting with their fbi girlfriend. That is why the Framers provided for the people to have the right to protect themselves. Other people may or may not protect you and even those who are fully motivated to do so may be minutes or hours away.
We have seen numerous examples of police pulling back and not protecting innocent people for a whole raft of reasons, typically because of orders from their politician bosses. We saw it with the BLM thugs, who shut down freeways and interstate highways, terrorizing people and endangering lives. We have seen it in urban riots, from Baltimore to LA. The pols are not ordering the police to shoot their constituents to protect a bunch of rich white people. You are expendable to them. We watched the Dc police stand by and do nothing when antifa thugs attacked people trying to attend the Inauguration. In fact, they were like security for the thugs since their presence prevented street justice for these assholes. Bottom line is you can't depend on the police, even when they are doing their best. They are minutes away when seconds count.
Republicans are in fantasy land thinking teachers with a few hours of range time and a compact firearm is going to engage a shooter with an AR-15.Many cops aren't likely to do it until they have back up
Well, I have to agree with you. The concept of arming teachers sounds at first reasonable, but in reality, it's not. I don't think you can teach someone one day, and shoot them the next (but maybe you can talk them down, however, you don't need a gun for that). Anyway, arm someone detached and trained. That armed teacher will probably have hesitation that might be fatal to all.
It's curious to see that people who say this idea is from "fantasy land" are the same people that support the politicians that made a law and a sign that says a school is a "gun free zone" and that this will magically make a mass murder simply not go in and kill a bunch of people.
