I edited the post, you can read it on the web archive, links above. Another one: Len Sassaman and Satoshi: a Cypherpunk History https://evanhatch.medium.com/len-sassaman-and-satoshi-e483c85c2b10
Ok people can choose bettwen you with your VHS and grandpa's redirections, or me: a true individual of a new era of technology.
Bitcoin is already 15 years old and still in development. Some new technology. Had Len lived... He is probably spinning in his grave. Also congratulation on not having a sense of humor.
Hal Finney is rolling over in his grave hearing this. He fits the bill and couldn't use his computer to communicate anymore after Satoshi's last post, and died not too longer after. Not to mention, Finney was also verified as being involved with the first ever Bitcoin transaction. Ding Ding Ding!!! But I'm sure it was all a coincidence...
Peter Todd was revealed as Satoshi and he already denied it. https://decrypt.co/285252/im-not-satoshi-hbo-documentary-misfires-bitcoin Hoback ultimately zeroes in on Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd, presenting a series of clues suggesting that he could be the crypto’s elusive inventor. Primarily, Hoback focuses on a forum post from Todd in reply to the pseudonymous Satoshi, which the director believes was actually Todd continuing Satoshi's thought—as if it was the same person using multiple accounts. He also notes Todd's writing style in relation to Satoshi, Todd's own efforts as a teenager to turn the earlier Hashcash experiment into a functional currency, and what's been described as non-professional-level C++ code behind the Bitcoin protocol. Finally, Hoback suggests that the Satoshi pseudonym was used so that people would take Bitcoin seriously. Shortly before the documentary aired on Tuesday, Todd replied to a post by BitMex Research on Twitter (aka X), stating: "I'm not Satoshi."
Reddit discussion about it: "I wonder who this TheSelfGoverned is, if you look at Peter’s first post all those years ago, this selfgoverned user comments a lot and has some very interesting things to say. Especially at the bottom when he predicts a lot of what ended up happening.. his account was deleted though" "The pacing was all over the place. I don’t know how anyone outside of bitcoin could stand to watch the whole thing" "My wife's outside of bitcoin and she enjoyed it. I thought it was very entertaining, but I'll give you the ADHD thing. That's kind of what made it fun for me. Really terrible when it came to making an argument about who satoshi is though." "My theory is they can be truthful when they say its not them because it was both of them: Beck and Peter" "I got the impression that during the first 4 interviews, both Peter and Adam were laughing to themselves about how smart they both were with their answers, and then in the fifth and final interview where they were directly confronted...Adam shut up while Peter was stuck being defensive and still thinking he could outsmart Cullen. Both visibly shitting their pants.. I'm convinced Peter is Satoshi based on his reactions.. and even his latest Twitter replies. Dude may be a brilliant genius programmer but holy shit, he shouldn't have been so foolish during these interviews." "I went in not really knowing much. I came out of the documentary thinking Peter is a punchable looking narcissist who 100% is not Satoshi." "It was a good doc of btc history and that’s it. The idea that what a high school kid created the outline of BTC code is just kind of dumb. What has he done since that’s even remotely close in technicality? Seemed like the producer didn’t have a way to end it and just went with something controversial to get movement." "Both Adam and Peter suggest that the other is possibly Satoshi in the film, Peter suggests this multiple times. Adam suggests it could be "someone younger" Peter's deflection mechanism when accused at the end is to be a bit flustered, flailing with his words, while Adam stands by completely silent. I think Adam is a very cautious person, he seems to shut down a bit when people discuss the topic. He tries to close the conversation or change the subject. Similar to how Satoshi shut down and disappeared after everyone found the coins? I bet Adam wasn't the one to mine the Satoshi hoard, but that was actually Peter, who Adam may have talked into destroying the stash later on, which could be what Peter references in the "sacrifice" chat log." "Many, many "facts" that the documentary says are just not true, like that Argentina had closed its central bank. I don't think anyone could take seriously anything about it. They don't even know what rbf really is. It was a nice watch, but mostly fiction and misunderstandings." "I would have never expect a conclusion as retarded as theirs, it was impossible to predict this level of retardation."
I personally agree with this opinion (and I came to the same reasoning), from another Reddit thread on r/cryptocurrency "Satoshi was his friend Len Sassaman. Both Hal and Len are dead now, which conveniently means that there’s no insane burden for anyone to continue holding to keep the identity of Satoshi a secret because the only two people who know his identity are dead. The evidence and logic behind it being Len is very strong considering how closely he was related work-wise to Hal Finney. It’s also no coincidence if you ask me that Hal lived very close to what is probably one of the only people in the entire United States whose name is Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. There are some coincidences that are just too absurd to be a simple coincidence. I don’t believe Dorian had anything to do with Bitcoin, he doesn’t really fit the bill. But there’s definitely some link between Hal, the real Satoshi (probably Len) and why he chose that moniker as his online persona, considering they were in very close vicinity to someone with that exact same name, whose probably the only person in the country with that name."
I've just watched it. I think this documentary is pointing at the right people, just by looking at the way they reply. They have that cheeky smile all the time when they reply to questions. They obviously know and worked with whoever created Bitcoin. That person might be dead, but the group of three people that appear in the doc were obviously involved. Adam Back Peter Todd Gregory Maxwell
I obviously have no idea who Satoshi is neither do any of you, neither does this documentary maker. I did think the documentary is pretty good though other than reaching for the identity of Satoshi, which to me was probably just to try to hype up this documentary. It’s really easy to prove your Satoshi just move a little bit of coins from the wallet that holds over 1 million bitcoin, and then your Satoshi. I’m not gonna believe anyone actually is satoshi until they do that. Again, I have no idea who Satoshi is, but I’m pretty sure they have to be dead. Because Satoshi is literally one of the richest people in the world, but has spent zero dollars from that account. Who possibly could be one of the richest people in the world and never spend any money unless you’re dead .
