Check out "Jack Corsellis" on YouTube. He shows deliberate practice for free. He sells a course of course but you can get a lot of good info for free.
If "deliberate practice" in trading is just "price TA" misnamed, then it might have some worth. What physical skills that can be "practiced and built upon" are there in trading... clicking a mouse? (If some sponsor comes onto ET and offers to teach "Price TA"... most players here should look into it. If the sponsor is any good, it will be worth the price to learn it. In an earlier post from TD... they seem to be teaching something of Price TA without calling it that. If so, could be worthwhile.)
“Deliberate practice” sounds good but it all depends on what you’re practicing. Most people in this game practice failure. It used to be that we were on our own to do that indeliberately. Now there’s a whole industry set up to help people do it deliberately. Well isn’t that special.
The skill you practice is decision making. After all that's the skill that will end up determining if you are successful. If you run through different charts one bar at a time you can look a a lot of charts in a short period of time. You can spend a couple hours a day watching a chart in real time or you can spend a couple hours running thought a lot of charts with deliberate practice.
Hi DiceAreCast, We started our marketing as an ET sponsor a few weeks ago. I have a personal account in ET that I created ~ a decade ago and never posted anything here or in other forums before. The people who you mentioned are real people with fake names like you, to keep their privacy. I asked my trader instructors (my students who became consistently profitable and love helping others as a coach) to join the ET and participate in fruitful discussions. If they seem new to the ET site and never posted anything, that does not mean they do not know how to trade and should not like my posts. We are operating our website and LSM system and trading servers from the US, Canada, and Singapore and have successful students all around the world who are not part of any public forum.
That is right. The first Module of Price Action is free (13 lessons + 80 trading drills), which show you how to identify price turning points, draw range lines, and dynamic support/dynamic resistance lines. I may post more videos of later lessons for free, but it will not be very useful to build any skill without Smart Drills. The rest is Paid per Module or you can buy the entire course at once as stated here.
Thanks for the response. I'm actually quite expert at Technical Analysis... and was considering running through your course if I could do it on a "fast forward" basis.... and with the notion that if I recognize the value of your work I'd support it to other ETers. (Sooo many of us struggle and could really use some quality help.) I saw one of your posts (which I haven't been able to relocate) about (1) fading counters to the trend and (2) fading big support/resistance against possible trend change. Both concepts are exactly correct... I just wanted to get a glimpse of how well you do it.
Exactly Savoir! That is the reason the 2nd key to success in trading in our opinion is to " Master Trading Algo of a Profitable Trading System, as many sold trading systems do not work. You can check this out here as we explained that by three videos: Master Trading Algo Also, you are right about our own doing indeliberately, which creates bad habits. If I tell you that our main setup is simply to find a "Trend and take its pullbacks", this does not help at all even with detailed videos and watching live trades. Without step by step deliberate practice coaching, most traders will indeliberately trade sideways market or go against the trend and get trapped!
Hi Fan27, Check out my IB statement when I was trading with a 30K account in 2008, which shows I am scalping YM with many trades (not just one trade by chance) and I had ~66% winning rate and R/R of 1.6 at that time. These days, my students send their reports with much higher winning rates. All equity curves you see in the section of: Comments and Results of our top Trading Students on this page is the real equity curve of students before and after taking PAAT Coaching system. Most student names were changed to keep their privacies but I will post some results of these students in the ET later on. Also, I agree with you that Deliberate Practice on a non-profitable system will cause one to lose money as mentioned in previous quote to Savoir. That is the reason the 2nd key to success in trading in our opinion is to "Master Trading Algo of a Profitable Trading System", as many sold trading systems do not work. You can check this out here as we explained that by three videos: Master Trading Algo
