Let's say you come across a stock that is 60% gain (either premarket, or popping out on the filter right now at the moment you look at top gainers of the day). Do you have guts/balls to pull the trigger and jump in (chasing) it? If so, what's your strategy ? I mean you put a stop loss to it? or let it ride? I've recently saw some stocks zooming up to like 60% premarket and then later at 150% gain....insane. So tempting.
Its pretty simple really. Pull up 20 charts where this has happened and see what happens at the open. I would bet that there isn't going to be a stat that says 80% of the time it either kept going up, or 80% of the time it started dropping. Now I'm not sure if you can use different stocks and put all the correlations together, and this is why I just focus on the indexes, but you will more than likely see that you can't simply just buy, because you think it always go up, or sell short, to fade the move, since it will always go down. The market will ensure that you won't always be right, and but also that you won't always be wrong, because if you were always wrong, it would be easy to be always right in reverse. So just pick some standard stop and profit that you wanna test, and see what happens if you applied this same trade management to these 20 occurrences.
