There's a culture here where many of the experienced traders are either guarded about how they trade or have already said everything during the last 10 years and the discussion is therefore limited. Some of ET's best traders prefer to talk politics. On the flip side the less experienced traders aren't effectively capitalizing on the wisdom, which is available when well thought out or pertinent questions are asked.
No, not BigMikes and not T2W. I'm sorry, I don't want to share them because honestly, I don't want the posters here to infect other higher quality sites with their BS. If you are in the business and take this stuff seriously you either know about them already or have the means to find them. It's really sad what ET has become. Maybe these other sites will go down the same path. I don't know. I know for one, they don't focus on number of members so the posting frequency is less and obviously not that attractive or as attractive to advertisers I suppose. I'm going to enjoy them while it lasts because it probably won't.
Absolutely. ET's greatest asset is probably it's archives. For the initiated, there is a priceless amount of good info tucked away in the archives. But very few newbies these days really come here to learn. I think the culture has changed there as well.
do the math..you now have twitter, facebook, stock feeds that use both these services, youtube, instagram, redditt, or whatever, and who knows how many other social networks that use both charts and videos better than here. text is is for rambling, and that value drops off fast. you don't troll on videos, it takes too much work. and why would you give an edge for free to strangers? and if someone did, you think they are simply selling something. this site just never evolved but can still be good for a beginner. but now it's harder to get 50k to trade with. u probably can learn more on comments within nytimes articles, since more academics post there. just think, newbies have school loans, little hope of buying a nice house, and who is going to advice bet in the markets, well gamble, after HFT and all the corruption. different game....need to create apps, videos, entertainment, and something that sticks.
I have noticed that the environment has gotten vicious and the quality of posts have declined however I do believe just like anything trading related its cyclical. I am also aware of sites where you are required to register with personal information however they are more of a professional site where almost every participant is a fund, whereas Elite community is more made up of small traders trading their own coin plus the dialogue on here is more diverse...
Lucrum is a troll of the worst sort. Good riddance. Only idiots and other trolls miss him. To hear Lucrum who stalked me for some time subsequently whine about being stalked was absolutely hilarious.
I get quickly fed with the ones who come here just to take, which would be OK if they at least displayed some manners. They post a question, get at least one useful response and turn out to be mannerless gets that can't be bothered to say thanks. That gets old and tiresome.
Problem lies in the fact that many newbie members do not understand and or have unrealistic expectations of trading. Answers to their questions help them improve incrementally, whereas their expectation is to become a millionaire if not a billionaire within next ten seconds and those with more realistic expectations are hoping to master trading with an answer to a single question; unfortunately neither is expectation is realistic and thus the blow ups, rude personal attacks etc...
This comes back to intellect though. I've never practiced medicine a day in my life but I know it's not easy becoming a doctor. Intelligent people understand that you can't become a millionaire or billionaire easily doing anything. Nor do they ever expect. But the children who are attracted to this site that giggle at the thought one needs to have some mathematical or statistical knowledge think they can make billions with moving averages and colorful charts. That's just who this site attracts these days. I have no idea how they are getting linked here.
I'll reiterate what I have stated for years-- the influx of the FX traders was the first sign of the site going downhill. Some of these guys stayed around and that's where the trouble comes from. That and crank stealth vendors-- one guy threatened to sue me for calling him out, etc. Unreal!
