Aside from Christmas, this is the slowest week of the year historically, mainly because a lot of people have to start traveling now to see their families by Thanksgiving.
After 2009, traffic really dropped here. I think the bulk of members were leveraged bulls, and subsequently cleaned out...
It will never die, but the day trading frenzy is long over. There will always be old dudes who invest for income, but that's not very exciting. There was a little increase from the third world due to the FX dealer marketing campaigns, but that has faded. Once the stock market crashes in about 20 years, the cycle will start over again--- then we will all be the old dudes.
^Agree. Retail participation in markets is still at historic lows. Day-traders and active investors got hit hard from 2009 and that scared away retail, which ET and other trading forums cater to... http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-09-23/why-institutions-are-so-desperate-retail-investor-come-back
Yeah, I think very old for short term traders, but we are still young when compared with income investors. At least I hope so!
Good info. thanks! ET is still fun, but I just don't feel the energy here anymore. Once a beehive of activity and opinions has been reduced to petty fights and playa hating. Heck, man, I met my bride here, so ET will always have a special place in my heart. I hope baron is right with the above post. I saw this same thing happen with the traders expos--- it use to be big firms like etrade, IB, TOS, etc. Then the FX dealers started exhibiting with video games, race cars and booth bunnies-- that marked the end. No one goes any longer. I see this happening here, looks at the sponsors. Clearly I am happy for any sponsor that keeps this site alive, but Galaxy Kingdom WTF??
