Lots of wisdom in what Andrea and danielc1 said. The traders who dismiss the self-analysis / self-discovery work are usually the ones who need it the most. And like danielc1 said, usually their answer is more work / knowledge (but not self-knowledge) and they get stuck in an endless loop. This can go on for years. If you're on this site enough, you learn which folks have mindset issues or biases which they can't see themselves. I actually use some people on this site as "indicators" of what not to do.
Formika, so true. It’s a lot easier to focus on charts and strategies then it is to look at ourselves. It’s also hard for many to see the connection between their trauma and their past and their psychology, and then how it affects their trading. I see it really quickly! But for some it’s a real stretch. Having the awareness of the connection between your past and your current trading is the first step.
Still waiting for my appointment with Wendy Rhodes. Chuck and Axe keep blocking me. Dollar Bill's on my side though.
Well, I think we all would be better traders if we went through that training. "Who's going to carry the boats?" Still, quite the hyper-rational response!
For some meditation might be enough, for many it isn't. Then I think there is pressure on people to wonder, "Why can't I solve my ___issues?" especially if they have meditated for years. This might result in their thinking "there is something wrong with me". When in fact, it may be issues, traumas, beliefs, etc from your past that need to be cleared, as they are affecting your trading in your present moment. People usually don't see their blind spots. Meditation can help. . . slowly over time, but may not be enough. The solution is different for everyone, but putting a blanket statement that one modality can work for all I think is untrue and can even be harmful.
Agreed, its not necessary that a solution would help everyone in the similar span of time. One needs to have patience and also look for other ways to help if meditation is not at all proving fruitful.
