Has anyone ever forgotten about a trade they had open?

I log in to my trading platform everyday since I'm scalper so this is impossible. Other accounts are empty since I withdrew all balance they had. So looks impossible to me.

  2. Happens fairly often if you trade futures frequently enough and have lots of accounts. You'll have a contract here or there. It never works out good, because if it did it would have him my limit and the position would no longer be open :)

Yes, it's happened to many traders. It’s a good reminder to always set stop losses, even when you plan to monitor trades closely. Automated risk management tools can help prevent these situations in the future.

  4. Let me guess, you actually did better on the trade you forgot about than the ones you didn't? :)

I had two over the years I did real well with (sticky finger and put rather than a call)...

I did a put on QQQ about 10 years ago...Was thinking I was doing a covered call. I caught the error, closed it out and made good bank.

I also was trying to buy RGT at a certain price. I put it in for a 1,000 share...I added an extra 0. It got to about 3,400 before I saw the error.

It was fine...I had a paper profit of about $11,000. at one time. I still have about a $2,500. paper profit on this.

I am just holding it...It has a 7%+ dividend each year.

  9. Yes, I’ve definitely forgotten about an open trade before came back to it hours later and saw either a big loss or a missed opportunity. It’s a harsh reminder always to set alerts and keep track of trades, especially when you’re managing multiple positions.

Same! Are you using any specific tools for tracking your trades?
