I know a guy (35yrs old) that when his lower back would go out...he would use a walker to move around and he would sleep on a hard floor on his back with his feet up on a sofa.

It would happen to him for about 2 - 3 weeks in duration...sometimes forcing him out of work to take sick leave of just unpaid days off for medical.

I built this pole in his back yard between two close trees for him to hang from.

He uses it now almost every day for about 15 minutes even in the winter. Never a thrown back again. Till this day he thanks me because it saves him about 7k each year due to not having to take time off from work to heal his back.

Degeneration of the Spine, arthritis of the vertebrae, bulging discs. Feels like your Spine is about to snap, with every movement, when it goes. Fun.

(I'll never wrestle another Crocodile again my Doctor advised.)

Having left Wall Street for 10 years and opening a Pilates/Conditioning studio with PT's,I would highly reccomend an MRI if one is suffering from acute back pain..
There is no way to know what condition you may have or how to best treat it. Herniation vs Stenosis vs spondylitis etc..You will not know whether to perform flexion movements vs extension type movements..Everyone will offer well-meaning advice, but I would strongly recommend an MRI,and do not let your physician talk you into settling for a X-Ray...

If you really want to try an alternative approach, read the back pain book by Dr Sarno.

I stand by what I said, but I know professional athletes who swear by him..

I dont, but that just me...

    Inversion table. Start slow.

Light rack pulls once you recover.
