FATCA was the revenue-raising portion of the 2010 domestic jobs stimulus bill at the time US didn't realize all the problems could be solved by printing money. The U.S. has yet to comply with FATCA itself, because as of 2017, it has not yet provided the promised reciprocity to its partner countries and it has failed to sign up to the Common Reporting Standard (CRS).

FATCA only generated about 250 million revenue each year since its implementation but caused lots of pains for everyone involved as the law applies retroactively.

FATCA is one way street, no way that US will give information to other countries.

Several countries/banks will not let US citizens open bank accounts or get loans on account of FATCA. Too much hassle for them.

This guy is likely in hot water with Harvard's administrators as well. Unless he informed Harvard of his arrangement with China and they approved it, which seems unlikely, I am almost certain he would have violated his contract with Harvard. They would have the option to fire him, regardless of his tenure status.

It's because the USA is weak, decadent, and irresolute, its authorities more worried about offending leftist-globalist sensibilities and cracking down on the Proud Boys than about containing or countering China. Chinese penetration and subversion runs all the way from everyday commercial IP theft and hacking, to somewhat more prominent examples like this Harvard prof, all the way to the top of the administration - "10 for the big guy" indeed.

We've already lost the war, just have to hope that those in charge aren't too dimwitted to grasp it, and thereby avoid blundering into an actual war over Taiwan or some other issue.

Well that's obvious considering the whole Biden's family has business ties with China. I mean they probe and investigate Trump's Russian influence because of what? a meeting? And yet Biden's son had investment firms in China, had his firm approved 10 days after Biden was sent to China to supposedly negotiate with China to de-escalate the East China Sea conflict and yet nobody raised a stint about this obvious conflict of interest and still elected him as the president? People were screaming Russian influence with Trump and yet everybody is fine with the Chinese influence on Biden? It's this obvious double standard that really puzzles me. https://nypost.com/article/hunter-biden-china-timeline-business-ties/
