And as I said, Lucrum, I still am. There is nothing in the report that I have caught so far to change my mind in that regard. Automatic and semiautomatic guns are not necessary for self defense, assuming no one had them, nor for hunting. Actually I consider them unsportsmanlike. From my point of view, we would all be better off without this particular type of gun being available. I am a strong advocate of background checks with identical rules everywhere in the U.S. The ideal in my mind would be the Swiss model, where gun ownership is very high, but also well regulated... Try to convince me otherwise. I'll listen to your arguments in favor of automatic and semiautomatic guns.
I was willing to listen to piehead's stuff until he said he thought Jesus was gay. After that I was done with him.
WRONG! But then self defense wasn't even the primary motive for the 2nd amendment in the first place. Both the government and the bad guys have them and always will. How much more convincing could one possibly need?
Poor piehead wants to believe that the 2nd Amendment was about gun types/varieties from his sad posts... The government had muskets then, as did the newly free people. Our Founding Fathers would today ask why the people don't own full auto M4's, M249's, and M240Gulf's so they can REMAIN free of a tyrannical government!
Sure. Put metal detectors around the entire country (once you assure that all weapons are gone, that is). Courtrooms and Aircraft aren't protected because of the law. They are protected because people know that there is no way a weapon could sneak into there. There is also little reason to carry a weapon there unless one is a terrorist, but that is another story. If the law was all that was necessary, Chicago would be the most peaceful city.
This is why us Men need to be Men, and do what we have to do to keep America America. If we're not willing, then we'll HAVE to embrace communism, as Obastard has brought it to us at light speed.
Agreed. My point is, gun control can indeed work, if the enforcement is there. The real crux of our (not you, specifically) argument should be "can gun control enforcement work?" What's the difference? The difference is, in the former argument there is no reason to debate or compromise by either party, but in the latter argument we can debate our tradeoffs.
