GOP ready to pounce on Harris policy pivots Vice President Harris’s quick pivot to her White House bid has prompted an about-face on multiple key issues that could affect outcomes in battleground states, handing former President Trump and Republicans a prime attack line. In the roughly one week since Harris replaced President Biden as the probable Democratic nominee, her campaign has moved to distance her from a series of positions she took when she was a candidate in the 2020 presidential primary.
This is probably the best approach for GOP... attacking her pivots on policy positions -- especially policy items that are important to people in swing states. The current GOP attacks focusing on her dancing, ethnicity, looks, etc. are not very effective. In fact most are highly mockable and cause the GOP to only lose further ground in the polls.
New Poll Sinks Dems’ Hopes That Voters Will Forget All About Kamala Harris’ Record On Immigration Sixty-nine percent of voters believe Harris is for open borders, further demonstrating her vulnerability on immigration as she begins her presidential candidacy, according to a Harvard-Harris poll released on Tuesday. Voters across the political spectrum also generally agree with the statement, with 56% of Democrats, 82% of Republicans and 69% of independents responding that they believe the vice president supports open border policies. A mere 31% of voters said they believe Harris stood against open borders, including only 44% of Democrats. Respondents also identified immigration as the second most important issue facing the country, beating out the economy, healthcare, crime and numerous other national concerns. At the same time, respondents to the Harvard-Harris survey overwhelmingly opposed the idea of open borders, with 68% of voters answering that they stood against such policies. When split by party, Republicans and independents opposed the idea by wide margins, and Democrats were practically even, with 51% answering they supported open borders while 49% said they opposed them.
This type of attack is not going to help Trump. GOP needs to address the policy issues rather than attacking Kamala Harris on race, looks, etc. Trump falsely attacks Kamala Harris over race, saying she "happened to turn Black" https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-kamala-harris-black-nabj-convention-chicago/
