Rearden, dont be naive. Average Israeli is a "pragmatist" like yourself with "self restraint". In other words a pussy afraid of the alphabet soup of US, EU and UN. And if you think 9/11 changed the rules. Yes, but only for US. Not for Israel. As you can see IDF's hands stayed just as tied after 9/11 and Bush was quite fine with Pali branch of Al Qaeda running in elections. Don't be naive. Americans do what they want because they have balls. Israelies don't.
wow, rearboy and i agree once again.... except he is going to espouse the view that the "terrorist" will be ayyyyyyyyyrabsssss. i will bet a dime against a doughnut that he actually knows the truth. let us not forget who they keep arresting with trace explosives in moving vans. the target will not be manhattan, it will be some expendable town sorta like new orleans. then the conscription goes into full gear without so much as a whimper of opposition. they will probably even waive "dont ask dont tell" for sunnyskies.
Yes, but only the Republican Americans. Democrats and liberals would be sending their fourth delegation headed by Carter and Fonda for talks with the Taliban to give up Bin Laden now, if they had been in power in 2001. Compare, but please don't insult.
Probably not. But it sure is taking a long time for them to learn how to govern themselves. And stupidity is a disease that runs rampant all over the world, but seems to be more acute in places were people can't get along...
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Following their resounding election victory, the Islamic militants of Hamas met the question of whether they will change their stripes with a loud ânoâ: no recognition of Israel, no negotiations, no renunciation of terror. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060128/ap_on_re_mi_ea/palestinians_hamas__test And: RAMALLAH, West Bank - The leader of Hamas suggested Saturday that the Islamic group could create a Palestinian army that would include its militant wing â responsible for scores of deadly attacks on Israelis â in the aftermath of its crushing victory in parliamentary elections. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060128/ap_on_re_mi_ea/israel_palestinians
Here's the election site in English: http://www.elections.ps/english.aspx Of the 132 legislators elected, no more than 10 are unaffiliated with a terror group.
Would the hamas army cover thair faces then, given they shouldnt have to worry about reprisals? Geez, if parliament gets into fisticuffs and throwing chairs in south korea, imagine what the palestinian assembly would do........
"RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Firing into the air, Fatah gunmen and police stormed Palestinian parliament buildings on Saturday in growing unrest after their long-dominant party's crushing election defeat by Hamas Islamists." And: "Hamas leaders meanwhile rejected as "blackmail" Western demands that it renounce violence against Israel or risk losing aid vital to the survival of the Palestinian Authority. Hopes of peacemaking with Israel have been pushed further into limbo." http://today.reuters.com/news/newsa..._01_L20602990_RTRUKOC_0_US-MIDEAST.xml&rpc=22
"Contrary to initial responses, Hamasâs projected victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections is a positive development. As Vladimir Lenin would put it, "worse is better." ... There will be no excuses or ambiguities when Hamas fires rockets on Israel and launches suicide attacks against civilian targets. Until Tuesday, the PA could hide behind the excuse that they were not directly responsible and they could not rein in the "militants." Now the "militants" are the militia of the ruling party. They are one and the same with the Palestinian Authority. If they bomb Israel from Gaza â not under occupation anymore, and is therefore, technically, part of the Palestinian state the PLO proclaimed in Algiers in 1988, but never bothered to take responsibility for â that is an act of war, which can be responded to in kind, under the full cover of the internationally recognized right of self-defense. No more excuses that the Palestinians live under occupation, that the PA is too weak to disarm Hamas, that violence is not the policy of the PA. Hamas and the PA will be the same: What Hamas does is what the PA will stand for." http://www.nationalreview.com/script/printpage.p?ref=/comment/ottolenghi200601261002.asp
On second thought, you're probably right. I added the "Ramallah, Jenin, and the entire Gaza strip would be quickly transformed into a sea of glass by the IAF" part in as an afterthought. It didn't seem logical that Damascus would get carpet bombed and those Pali areas be spared, when the latter are far more directly complicit in terrorist atrocities. Then again- when it comes to government, nothing makes sense.
