  2. Good point. Some people would get every thread in HoF because they have an army of slaves clicking like for every post they make, no matter how inane.

kut2k2, how about suggesting some other threads? You might find somebody nominates yours. I think justrading almost did just that?

If someone wants to take the lead on version 2 of HoF (and I'm cool if you want to take the lead based on what I can recall of your posting history), no one will object too much if that person sneaks in a couple of threads that they started themselves. Why not draw up a list here of more than one thread and request others to send in recommendations (here or by PM)? Get the ball rolling. I made a stab at compiling version 1 and it wasn't a perfect process but I wanted to put something together.

It's easy if you're just focusing on one specific thread to determine the merits or not of inclusion. Maybe that Kelly Criterion thread you refer to is worthy if you have the time to think through the maths. Not sure that's a 5 minute job. Putting together a list of 50-100 threads means you need to take shortcuts and use some heuristics to make a decision. People can generally be more objective evaluating threads started by other people. And it's probably a more efficient process too. If everyone was allowed to nominate their own thread, how much credibility is the final list going to have? We avoided such problems in version 1.

But there's no one correct way to do this, different people have different ideas as to what merits inclusion. You're not going to please everyone but if you do the spadework others will appreciate the effort. I would be really interested to see another 30-50 threads added to the original list where I take no part in the selection process.

Would you be willing to take the lead on version 2?

Stumbled across two threads that were recommended a while back for the HoF list by a poster named icarus618 (Source: http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?threads/index-locker.282376/#post-3948390).

    The Stochastic Indicator

    Support and resistance Question...

And three more recommended by broomstick (Source: http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?threads/scalping-journal.230899/#post-4099635):-

    A simple price action approach

fib. expansion and retrace in forex

Ghost of If You Can Draw A Straight Line

Haven't had time to look through them in detail but they might be helpful to others.

Baron - Going forward, is it worth creating a button where posters can nominate a thread for the HoF list? And then after a certain number of votes (by different posters) a new entry gets added... Might be one way to freshen up the HoF list if no-one has time to work on version 2. I think there still be potential to stimulate interest in the site by promoting the treasure chest material contained in the archives.

Posted this to another thread but forgot to add @Baron.

    Here goes:

Baron should appoint (i.e., ask) 4 to 6 (or whatever number he finds appropriate) HoF Monitors consisting of long-time members (5+ years). I immediately volunteer to be one of them.

Each Monitor will commit to review a minimum of 25% of the current HoF list, whichever 25% he or she wishes, over the course of a calendar year. Since this year is mostly over, the first batch of reviews will be due before Jan 2017.

Each Monitor will review a thread and give his (or her) approval or disapproval. If he approves he can simply comment "thread XXX: approved". Or he can say nothing at all. It will be assumed that any thread a Monitor does not comment on gets his tacit approval.

If a Monitor thinks a listed thread really doesn't qualify for HoF status, he must state explicit reason(s) why it is disqualified and should be removed from the list.

All these reviews can be posted to a private thread consisting of Baron and the selected HoF Monitors. This will give all the Monitors and Baron a chance to discuss specific disapprovals. Cordiality will be mandatory. Name-calling and sarcasm will be forbidden. Remember: all are there for a common purpose: to improve the quality of the HoF list for the benefit of all ET members, old and new.

In addition to reviews of the current content, any Monitor can nominate an unlisted thread for listing. He or she must be prepared to answer any and all criticisms of his selection(s) without antagonism. A criticism of a selection should never be construed as a criticism of the selector. The goal is the best possible HoF list for the benefit of all members.

Baron will have final say on whether a listed thread gets unlisted or whether a nominated thread gets listed. He can put it to a vote by the Monitors or he can just say Yea or Nay himself. It will be understood by all the Monitors upfront how the decision process will work and of course if he disapproves, he can resign, giving Baron the opportunity to replace him.

This is obviously a long-term and ongoing process. Monitors may come and go, procedures may change. The goal as always is to turn the HoF list from a static thing into a dynamic organism that will always reflect the best of Elite Trader.

Addendum: nominations should be limited, e.g., a maximum of 3 per Monitor per calendar year. Otherwise the workload can easily become overwhelming by one overly enthusiastic Monitor.

+1 Some good ideas there for Baron to look into when he's next revamping the site.

  10. Chief, the list is watered down balderdash without the record setting "Urgent Message from Rennick" and "Chronicles of Rennick" threads. Sorry to toot my own horn but it wasn't getting tooted.

    Pete Rennick Rose out:cool:
