"Computer hackers have repeatedly breached the systems of the company that runs the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York but did not penetrate the part of the system that handles trades, according to several law enforcement officials.

An investigation into the breach is being carried out jointly by officials in New York for the F.B.I. and Department of Justice, with assistance from computer crimes specialists, according to two law enforcement officials. One government official said the federal investigation has been going on for at least a couple of months."
