as I am looking for a recent picture... I think I figured out Ricter's issue.

I am not sure... but the picture may come from montana. So the fact the glaciers in the artic came back this year is not necessarily relevant.

Nevertheless I would love to see a recent picture.

Premature Celebrations by the Cooling Crowd?
    by Robert Hunziker / September 10th, 2013

"As of recent, some of the world’s news services have been filled with joy over the return of some of the sea ice extent at the Arctic, and this news is reinforcing the cooling crowd’s chatter about a turn up in atmospheric conditions, meaning, let’s not worry about global warming or climate change. The (other) experts have got it all wrong. As a result, let’s celebrate the cooling trend and pop open the champagne, and don’t worry any longer about human causes of global warming, like CO2 from fossil fuels, and just for good measure, let’s insist that Al Gore give back his Oscar.

"Here’s some of the good news:

“Good News for Polar Bears! The Arctic Ice Pack is 60 Per Cent BIGGER than it was a Year Ago.”1

“And now it’s Global COOLING! Record Return of Arctic Ice Cap as it Grows by 60% in a Year.”2

“Global Warming? No, Actually We’re Cooling, Claim Scientists.”3

"You can go to the Internet and search for “Arctic Sea Ice” to find all kinds of headlines about the increasing sea ice and global cooling. The cooling crowd are falling all over themselves with exclamation points and bold cap letters like “BIGGER” to drive home the point that – Ha! Ha! – We’re right – Global warming is a sham, not caused by people; fossil fuels have nothing to do with it, drill-baby-drill!

"And, the XL Pipeline decision is right around the corner. Boy, oh boy, what a great time for mother nature to play right into their sweet spot.

"On the other hand, all climate scientists would celebrate a reversal in climate change conditions with factual evidence that global warming is not a threat, if it were factual, but it is not.

    <img src="http://dissidentvoice.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Figure31-350x261.png">

"The chart above, as of August 2013, from the National Snow & Ice Data Center (“NSIDC”), depicts the Arctic Sea Ice Extent trend over the past 35 years, and the trend is decidedly downwards with occasional blips up along the way, similar to the recent blip this year (2013). In point of fact, the loss of Arctic sea ice averages 10.6% per decade."

    Some more recent.

All this "proves" is that we have been warming since the Little Ice Age. Of course the nutters like Ricter and FC will see it as "proof" of AGW.

Here is the one FACT they can't handle.

Every single model failed to predict the lull we see in temps. Not one model correctly predicted future temps. They all said temps would be higher today. If the facts don't fit the model, then the model is WRONG!

    No, the World Isn't Cooling
    By Phil Plait
Posted Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at 10:30 AM

"When I heard that the Mail on Sunday ran a climate change article over the weekend, I knew it would be bad. But when I clicked the link and saw it was written by David Rose, I braced myself for the worst.

"Man, sometimes I hate being right.

"Rose is a guy who denies climate change in the way creationists deny evolution, and flat-Earthers deny the Earth is, well, not flat. That is to say, with claims so ridiculously wrong it’s charitable to call them "ridiculously wrong."

"The article in the Mail bears this out. In it, Rose makes a lot of jaw-dropping statements. To pick three, he says the world is cooling, Arctic sea ice increased 60 percent over last year at this time, and the International Panel on Climate Change is under so much attack they had to hold a "crisis" meeting.

"These claims are at best misleading. The first and third are just wrong, and the second hugely cherry-picked. I’ll debunk these briefly here, but I’ll note you can get the grim details at the Guardian in a great article by Dana Nuccitelli and John Abraham and at Discover magazine. Hot Whopper has a dissection as well.

"Rose’s first claim is that the world is cooling. This is simply wrong. There’s long been a claim that global warming has stopped, but this too is wrong. Surface temperatures haven’t increased as much as they did a decade or so ago, but we now understand that the extra heat from global warming is getting stored in the oceans. Surface temperatures are a piece of the puzzle, but like their name implies, they don’t probe the depths of the problem. Remember too that nine of the 10 hottest years since 1880 have been in the past decade.

"The second claim that the Arctic sea ice is now 60 percent higher over August 2012 is technically true but extremely misleading. In the summer of 2012 Arctic sea ice hit a record low. Given just how extreme it was, it’s not too surprising that it would not be as extreme this year. As you can see by the graph here, the sea ice extent (which essentially represents how much area is covered by ice) was incredibly low last year and is still lower than average this year. Rose makes this seem like the ice is on a huge rebound, but it’s more like getting a D- after getting an F on a test. Sure, it’s better, but it ain’t necessarily good."

Why are we talking about non existent global warming when our Muslim president is trying to help his Muslim brotherhood pals (yes, the rebels are mostly Muslim terrorists), and at the same time possibly spark a major World war?
Is anyone awake out there?  :(

don't you just love fact checkers who lie their ass off over at these leftist digital rags like slate? I mean what a joke.

    a. Slate says the world has not stopped warming... instead of addressing air temps... and the pause in temps the last 16 years that every agw scientist now admits... this slate bozo brings in a new fact... water temps.

talk about misleading horeshit. Face facts agw nutters... there has been no statistically discernable warming for 16 years. Your models predicted all the CO2 would cause warming of the air... not the oceans. The oceans release co2 as they warm. Where do you think some of the co2 increase is coming from?

    b. then the slate writer admits Rose is technically correct about the increase in the glaciers.

    c. I have not clicked the link... but I will bet the UNs has had meetings on this issue. I know they have circulated drafts and MET has revised their model last Christmas to show no warming the next 3- 5 years.

Arctic sea ice delusions strike the Mail on Sunday and Telegraph
Both UK periodicals focus on short-term noise and ignore the rapid long-term Arctic sea ice death spiral

"When it comes to climate science reporting, the Mail on Sunday and Telegraph are only reliable in the sense that you can rely on them to usually get the science wrong. This weekend's Arctic sea ice articles from David Rose of the Mail and Hayley Dixon at the Telegraph unfortunately fit that pattern.

"Both articles claimed that Arctic sea ice extent grew 60 percent in August 2013 as compared to August 2012. While this factoid may be technically true (though the 60 percent figure appears to be an exaggeration), it's also largely irrelevant. For one thing, the annual Arctic sea ice minimum occurs in September – we're not there yet. And while this year's minimum extent will certainly be higher than last year's, that's not the least bit surprising. As University of Reading climate scientist Ed Hawkins noted last year, "

Arctic sea ice rebounds, but don't jump to 'global cooling' conclusions
Parts of the Arctic Ocean containing at least 15 percent sea ice have increased by 78 percent when compared with the extent last year at this time, according to data compiled by the National Snow and Ice Data Center.
By Pete Spotts, Staff writer / September 10, 2013

"After a record-breaking decline in the extent of summer sea ice on the Arctic Ocean last year, this year's minimum has returned to levels that more closely track the long-term rate of decline that scientists have measured for at least 34 years.

"The striking one-year recovery in end-of-melt-season ice speaks more to the role that natural variability plays in any single year's number, Arctic sea-ice specialists say. It says little or nothing about any purported global cooling, as some skeptics of climate change have suggested.

"Researchers note that the long-term decline in summer sea ice is strongly correlated with rising temperatures in the region, increases they attribute to global warming."
