well lets make a deal If you quit I'll quit and we all will quit! We'll form a "Union" and if they hire one back they will have to hire all of us back at a better wage.

You two make that deal in your company boardroom, collectively, for the ultimate in irony.

not movies, documentaries. And I've seen too many to know the coal miners needed a Union. Now, are they corrupt? Yes. But that doesn't mean I am anti Union, it just means I am anti corruption.

Or they will just outsource the entire operation to China or India.

Actually the way unions are done in Germany is much better. German unions usually hold 1/3 of the board seats of the company and are active in the management of the company. The unions in Germany act more as a partnership than a rival to management.

This union/management system strangely enough was set up the United States for German companies after WW2. The system still is in operation today for many large firms.

I will note that Germany has higher productivity and lower labor strife than many other nations - while still having generally high wages.

It's just a matter of time before India and China Unionize. "How has your AAPL been doing since China went on strike?"

supply and demand, labor is a commodity

Not all unions are good and plenty of union members are lazy. Years ago I worked in the auto industry building scheduling systems for manufacturing plants. When we'd go out in the plant to see the operations it was a joke. You'd see guys actually sleeping on the job. Others not doing what they were assigned to do. At lunch there were those who would drive like a bat out of hell to a bar to drink their lunch. And as union members some of them made over $100K annually for jobs that really didn't require a high school diploma. And if you tried to get a union guy written up .. forget it. Short of murdering someone they'd get a free pass.

when I worked in a BIG Union Shop, one old guy brought in a cot and a crockpot, two years before his retirement. And he just sat there and read magazines and cooked something everyday for the crew in his crock pot.

I asked about it. They said it would take longer than two years just to fire him, so it was cheaper and easier to just let him retire.

GOPers will double down and say "No confirmation. . . unless you also say they have a right to welfare, medicaid, foodstamps and unemployment!"

With any luck, she'll be confirmed and break enough laws that The One gets impeached.
