I am taking delivery of a Sig Sauer MCX Spear lt in 300 blackout as soon as the tax stamp clears. I bought the Sig suppressor designed for it and am mounting an AGM Rattler V2 35-384 Thermal scope on it. I am going to use it for coyote control and a home defense rifle. I may even go on a trip to do some hog hunting. I already have the thermal scope and it is amazing to me what you can see day or night. It isn't the top of the line AGM Thermal but quite good for my needs. Since I don't have it at home yet it will look like this. I am buying the SBR.[IMG]

AGM are not great. The refresh on their thermals is very slow. Maybe go with a reap-IR but it's a spend. I have two Rattlers. Once you dial it in stick with that amomo.

I am just dipping my toes into thermal. From my research, the new V2 is better than the original. I bought mine from B&H Photo for 2500 and they threw in a cheap thermal monocular with it. I used their "Payboo" credit card which pays the sales tax if you pay it off within a month.

  6. Way above pimp gun status, but not quite drug lord level (diamonds and such). Probably a regional boss. I won't even show my 1911 but it's accurate enough for bear protection, if they ever get mad you're in their forest :D

  7. That's awesome! I have an old gen 1 ebay special and it's fine for <200 yards, since varmits eyes light up with the illuminator on. In a full moon it's even better. Big improvement over a bare scope.

I needed something that would be useful for things that go bump in the night without having to use a flashlight. I have an ATN Day/Night scope on my RPR BUT the thing is too heavy to maneuver/ carry around with me. I watched a lot of Youtube reviews and many suggested the AGM as a "Value" thermal scope and I have been testing it out (as a monocular) on my dogs and looking for deer at night on my property. I find it amazing to be able to see the dogs 200 yards away from me clearly enough to identify which dog is which in total darkness. I may go for a higher end unit for one of my 308 rifles in the future. Since 300 Blackout is only good at 200 yards or less with subsonic bullets this unit should be fine.

All thermals under $4K are basically junk. My kid has a Pulsar ($3K) for airsoft at night and it's worthless due to the constant refresh. I hear good things about the ATN Thor stuff on the low end. My first MUM-14 was ATN and it was great. Thin-film Gen3 green. I've moved to PVS-31s.
