Ok, far more lunacy than I expected in your answer, but I'll humor you. The technology for unique bullet identifiers does not exist, unless you're talking about a serial number or etching. So let's rule out electronic solutions right from the get-go unless you know of something that will work. If you do, please point me to it. Don't bother with RFID or other type technology, as none of that would stand up to the kinetic impact of a bullet hitting something. Coincidentally, this would also make etchings impossible, for several reasons. First, a bullet can be linked to a particular gun because of the impression left by the barrel in the lead. This same impression would render any etching unreadable. Second, the aforementioned kinetic impact of bullets frequently crushes them and fragments them, making such an impression worthless if it somehow survived the scraping from exiting the barrel. Lastly, making bullets $10,000 each is the hallmark suggestion of someone who knows nothing about firearms. It is not that difficult to reload your own bullets if you know how to do it. All you would do is create a vast, criminal market in illegal bullets. Google "ammunition reload kit" for more info and then come back when you know what you're talking about. Oh, and it's already illegal to commit a crime with a firearm, and most crimes are committed by illegally owned firearms. If you're going to commit murder and commit a crime with an illegally obtained firearm, do you really care that you're risking riding a bus in a diaper? How fucking stupid.
What is stupid is accepting living in a country that has gun violence off the charts compared to other industrialized nations. Now children in schools are being taught active shooter drills while there overseas peers are not traumatized with this B.S. People need to change their attitudes - or just blindly accept that our nation is below 3rd world when it comes to murders by guns.
So you say it's stupid to accept living in this country based on those situations, but you haven't provided any solution. Still waiting for your suggested ways to solve the problem. Of course, if it's stupid to accept living here, I'm guessing you're knee deep in plans to leave the country?
Actually the public high school I went to in suburban Long Island in Nassau County near NYC had a shooting range and a riflery team. Just like most of the nearby high schools. Students came to school every day carrying their rifles and placed them in their lockers for practice after school. We also had JROTC using the range. The problem is not guns.
There is only guesswork as far as I know to identify potential terrorists and murderers. Who gets idolized by Hollywood and TV ? The likes of Billy the Kid, Jesse James etc. No wonder they grow up in the same rotten mould. If your only problem solving tool is a gun then ...................
WTF are you talking about? When was the last time you saw Billy The Kid idolized by the current batch of millennials? I'll bet 80% or more couldn't even tell you who Jesse James was. You want to look somewhere for blame? Start with the rap music culture, and in an African American community where getting out of jail gets you more popularity than graduating from college. Oh, I know, I'm rayciss for bringing that up.
Bring it. If people want to pretend they are interested in solving problems, then let's see if they really are.
It is pointless to debate gun control. It is off the table politically, just like when democrats were in control cutting taxes or restricting abortion was. Protection of gun rights is about as core an issue as exists in the republican party these days. We all understand that any compromise with antigun forces is insane, as it merely raises the floor for further demands. One of the many great outcomes of the election is we should soon be in buyer's nirvana for guns. Fear of Obama and Hillary's gun confiscation schemes drove panic gun buying, particularly of popular items like modern sporting rifles, ie AR's. That threat has subsided for the foreseeable future, so supply and demand should even out. Not so great for gun manufacturers( I sold my SWHC and RGR the day after the election) but good for the rest of us.
