    let's examine your logic here

    1. You say we have a gun problem yet you are boasting how well the gun control laws work in NYC, so which is it in NYC?
    2. You admit that rural areas have lower murder rates
    3. THEREFORE everyone, including rural areas, needs tougher gun laws

why?? you just said NYC is doing just dandy, why the hell do lower crime rural areas need the same laws?

the answer is simple, we don't need a national law, every big city can emulate NYC and the rural areas like Wyoming (with the highest gun ownership, yet lower murder rate) can keep doing what they are doing.

  2. There are big cities "drowning in crime" and many less big cities where crime is too high. NYC is a model of what a city should be. We need national gun law policy so that ALL cities could enjoy a lower crime rate.

You may also want to keep in mind, there is no open carry in FL.

  4. Concealed carry I miswrote. Does not matter, concealed carry does not do squat in Florida.

let's run through this again, slower

    1. rural areas don't need tougher laws, they are already safer
    2. cities can make tougher laws if they want to be safer, you just bragged that it's possible

therefore, we do not need a national law as not everyone has a problem

And you have some studies/stats to back up this statement?

  7. NYC has a balance sheet that makes it possible to hire more cops. NYPD is the largest police department in the country if I remember right. Not every city is as fortunate. The thrust of my argument was that if you implement gun control nationwide the whole country would be safer. NYC while safer than other US big cities is not as safe as some European big cities (I think gun crime in London is WAY lower)

Maybe, but not low enough apparently.

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/armed-police-to-permanently-patrol-britains-streets-6776867.html

" Armed police are to carry out routine patrols in London to combat gun carrying drug gangs.

In an unprecedented move for British policing a team of 18 constables armed with sub-machineguns, led by an inspector and two sergeants, will operate permanently in "hotspots" in Brixton, Haringey and Tottenham.

The officers, from the Met's Specialist Firearm Command SO19, will patrol estates and streets to prevent shootings and stabbings.

The move, which follows a 30 per cent surge in gun crime in London this year, will be the first time in Britain that armed officers have been put on permanent patrol.

The officers — some on motorbikes — will be armed with Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machineguns capable of firing up to 800 rounds per minute and Glock semi-automatic pistols...."

Are there any other gun myths you'd like me to dispel with facts and cold harsh reality?

further bolsters the case you made that we do not need a national law, cities just may need more cops

most of the country does not need rescuing by your ideas, the murder rates are acceptably low and life is very safe. I live in suburb where we have had 2 muders in 15 years. Many of us have guns, they didn't pose a problem.

here's another fallacy publix- you think if gun crime is lower that's all that matters. Let me ask, does it really matter the manner in which someone kills you?
