I made the mistake of buying 2 very large video cards: -MSI N250GTS TwinFrozr 1G OC GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card & -EVGA 512-P3-1150-TR GeForce GTS 250 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Now I need to add a couple more monitors (currently running 4). The problem is with the fans on these cards. I cannot fit another card, even a single slot will be pushing it. So, should I sell the 2 GTS 250's and buy 4 single slot video cards? If so, can you suggest a particular line of cards? here is my motherboard: MSI P55-GD80 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard Pardon my technological ignorance Thanks a ton in advance!
Yes, sell the 250s. Use Nvidia Quadro NVS 295s. You want 4 video cards? To run 8 monitors? Might be a problem. Doesn't your mobo have only 2, PCIEx16 slots?
Well, your mobo limitations will need to be accommodated. You have only 3, x16 slots.... choices. 1. Made do with 6 monitors.. bigger ones if necessary. 2. Use 1, NVS 450 quad + 2 NVS 295 dualheads. 3. Use 3, NVS 295 dualheads + 1 PCI.... not sure which PCI would be compatible except NVS 280 PCI and it has limitations. Also, you'd have to use an older Nvidia driver which supports both 295 and 280. 4. Replace your mobo with one having 4, x16 slots.
I run 12 monitors at the moment using 3 of these quad dvi video cards. Have used them for over 8 months now and work perfectly.... $460.00 ea * they are low profile too http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133258
