Grinding it out, day after day

Discussion in 'Journals' started by lescor, Jan 9, 2010.

  1. In your original post you had some ambivalence about keeping this journal. Now that the year is almost over, do you think keeping the journal on ET has had any impact on your trading? Was it a positive or negative experience overall?

Some of the Crossfit people I know also have a strict diet. Paleo seems popular and I know one who is a vegan. Do you stick to any special diet?

  2. If one doesn't use charts etc (technical analysis) and doesn't use fundamental analysis, what on earth is left!!??

lol. I've heard of a few good traders say that they use neither TA or FA. Whenever I hear it I feel like my brain is about to fall out.

Can any good traders throw me a bone or is it something only a few guys know about and an inside secret?
    cheers

It hasn't affected my trading at all. But it's been a positive experience because writing about my trading and putting thoughts into words reinforces my trading beliefs and rules. I also like chatting about trading with people who can have an intelligent discussion about.

I don't follow a specific diet, I just eat clean and follow this guideline most of the time: Eat lots of meat, vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.

Statistics, odds, order flow, arbitrage, etc. There's a million ways to play the game.

    Hello lescor,

when you say statistics, odds etc, do you mean systems that are purely based on price ? Eg, systems that could be designed just by looking at the opening and closing times of various timeframes ?

Easier said than done. Amazing how a little discipline will set you free from chains, and open up doors you didn't know were there.

Four day week, but pretty good again. $17k on 270,000 shares volume. Daily pl +10, -2, 0, +9. Passed 100k for the month with just two days left to mess it up.

I've been holding a bunch of municipal bond funds since they bottomed last week and just selling a little each day, which has been working pretty well with just one day of heat. Super thin half day today, it paid to provide liquidity to those who needed to get their trades done. Glad I could oblige.
