Hi Lescor, is there a chance to name the lets say 5 worst single trades for the month in terms of percentage loss? Thanks
Lescor and others, did it happen to you that instruments you were trading intraday were halted and didn't resume trading until the end of the trading day? If yes, what happened with margin that suddenly became overnight?
Lescor, do you think earnings season will blow the lid off of it? I know you don't play earnings stock, just curious as to what you believe might be the catalyst for this market to wake up? Personally I would like to see it quiet or a break of the uptrend going into earnings season, but thats because I play in-play stocks.
Depends on the broker. But there's nothing the broker can do about it and when it reopens you will be back to day margin. Stuck in LPS are we?
I never trade close enough to my margin limit for it to be an issue. Between prop leverage and not trading very big in my retail account, I never really think about margin limits.
I've got no idea. My personal experience though is that something will cause a spike in volatility and catch a whole lot of people off guard. At first it will look like an innocent pullback, then people will worry, then they'll act irrationally. Earnings could certainly contribute to it. I'm just sittin' here waiting....
Yep, was inspired by LPS halt. What about other possibilities then: 1. Can the broker liquidate other positions in the account before close to satisfy overnight margin requirements overstretched by halted LPS? 2. Can the broker try to liquidate part of the LPS position during the night if trading resumes outside regular trading hours. 3. Did options on LPS halt simultaneously too? 4. Let's' say the broker is IB.
This week sucked, until Friday. Then it was just horrible. Nothing working, no volume, not much moving, way too many grinding trends. Short 6,000 FO on the open this morning, BOOM! $5 straight up in 10 minutes. I knew there was an ag report this morning and adjusted orders in all my related stocks. Nope. Steam rolled in several of them. Best thing that happened all week was Sterling crashing while I was sending a basket of orders. If they would have made it through and filled, I'd have lost about 2 grand. For the week -$19,000 on 330,000 shares. Daily pl +4, -3, -5, -1, -14.
Hi Lescor, I admire your amazing profitability and want you to know that no disrespect is intended by my question, but this seems like an unusual trade for you. FO staged a strong breakout into the close yesterday (I saw it hitting my hi ticker and took a look at it), basically closing at the high of the move. This is usually a very bullish sign that price will "gap and go" the next day, especially since the next resistance level was 55.68. Is there a particular signal you had for shorting it at the open instead of waiting a while after the open? Donna
