Greeks are pulling billions out of their banks in fear of new cash controls. Greece's economy is shrinking again. The country has not been able to put together a deal to pay off its next debt payment. People are talking seriously about "Grexit" again. http://www.businessinsider.com/greece-debt-grexit-eurozone-imf-2017-3?r=UK&IR=T
The trick is, how to get rid of something that is holding you back without scaring everyone else? One of the mandates of the EU is unity, isn't it? So if all of a sudden you're happy to let some countries go, well there goes the whole unity thing. Of course the best thing to do is to get rid of the weight that is dragging you down, but then you lose that warm fuzzy people that the EU provided.
Greece seems to have been in constant crisis for the past few years, I don't know how the locals deal with it.
A new EU without using a single currency might be worth to consider. And problems resolved, perhaps! LOL https://elitetrader.com/et/threads/...-is-there-an-alternative-to-countries.307005/
