I know there's probably a simple reason behind this but why are so many hedge funds primarily based out of Greenwich CT?
proximity to NYC---- sweet houses---- high standard of living--- great schools----- pretty much the best of everything---- surfer
In addition to some of the other reasons one of the reasons Greenwich became Greenwich is because there was no state income tax until the late 80s or early 90s. It is the first town over the line. It was home to some of the wealthiest people in the world. Since the customers were already there, many of the managers went to where the money is. Also going all the way into Wall Street kinda sucks. you drive in traffic or you drive to the train, you take a 40 minute train ride ride and then you get on a sweaty crowded subway.
