Very strange action today. Gold shares and the Gdx up 10% on a day when oil finished unchanged. Gold bugs will likely have all types of theories for this move.
Steenberger's analysis isn't even worth reading. He has no idea what he's talking about. Look no further than his quote: " . . . the directionality of the involvement suggests that large financial institutions are systematically buying the beaten-up shares of the poster children for TARP: C, FNM, FRE, AIG, and the like." Huh??? The guy is totally clueless. His entire analysis is based on no foundation whatsoever. Pure BS.
He could dig a little deeper and suggest that they are doing the same in plenty of other stocks also. But it would still be BS. Lets see how about AXL to support their investments in the auto industry.
