Why not make all public service jobs uniform: Federal, State and City workers plus military and teachers. Eliminate all pensions and only offer Social Security Benefits Eliminate all healthcare plans and only offer medicare Eliminate all pay grades and only pay minimum wage. Eliminate all payroll taxes (They are already paid from collected taxes) Adjust the above programs so they provide a liveable benefit and wage. Working for the government should not be a permanent career but a voluntary and limited enlistment of time. These jobs should be the catch all for our unemployed and equal the minimum available in the private sector. Currently many public sector jobs are near top executive level in terms of compensation and benefits.
