just like with salaries for gvt employees(who aren't doing anything for a week)-everything would be taken care of...by you and me,the taxpayers..nobody cares about us(i'm unemployed for over a decade),but all the leeches will be paid in full for doing NOTHING..paid in full..

Easily achieved, just bomb all the competition to rubble - Japan, Germany and now, China.

It gets frustrating for us "non-leeches" to see how the other half lives. Whenever I have observed people using EBT cards they have name brand prepared foods, candy, soda pop and other "treats" in their cart.

I can honestly say I have NEVER seen an EBT card user buy fresh vegetables, flour, sugar or other items that indicate they cook from scratch.

My solution would to be this:
    1) End the food stamp program.

    2) Issue food on a weekly basis to people in need. Give them some choices but make it basic foods.

    3) Issue a Betty Crocker cookbook to every new enrollee. If they aren't working they have time to cook from scratch.

    4) Give them five bucks each week to spend on soda pop or candy.

It all comes down to lobbying (as usual). Stores like 7-11, etc all lobby to get on the EBT approved seller list. WTF in 7-11 should be on an EBT buyer's list?

Bush gave out 2 stimulus checks long ago to everyone. I think it was to go out and
buy that new Plasma TV. Or, was it to stimulate or love your ob-gyn. I dont remember.
    Not partisan here, just sayin.
I just want to go back to the 1950's when smokimg and drinking were just fine,
sound money, full employment, banks were banks and we had relative peace aside from that nucleer thing.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

In the fifties, I worked as an aeronautical engineer for nasa making 66 dollars a week. had to borrow ten dollars to buy a pair of shoes but the credit union wouldn't risk it so I got it from the personnel manager. Things were high as hell back then and I would never want to go back. I absolutely hated the fifties.

  9. To paraphrase Pogo .... it's not really so new and not really so clear!

Does anyone else find it just a tad curious that EBT fails after market hours on the one big weekend before US default? After all nobody is working by decree, supposedly workers have been told to make sure the shutdown hurts the people as much as possible and to do no work at all. And suddenly ...... out of nowhere ..... a GLITCH appears. Life is certainly stranger than fiction!
