Canada implemented something similar very early in the Covid game and our job recovery was faster then the US. He may be looking at our experiences. Benefits here for anyone with reduced income because of Covid were $2000 Cdn per month every adult in the household for 4 months and I believe the program was extended. Every time I saw the US endlessly squabbling over $600 stimulus cheques I had to laugh.

I believe these programs being implemented very early in the game helped keep most people sane, financially sound, and helped allowed us to flatten our Covid curve far better then most similar countries in the summer.

In terms of logistics, as of a few months ago, Canada had recovered 70+% of the jobs lost due to Covid whereas the US was at 50%. Not sure the exact cause/effects but likely when people are less stressed about money and Covid isn't running rampant it's good for business.

Meanwhile we just had another near 1 million apply for initial unemployment. Maybe in anticipation of this bill. So they will get their state benefits, plus this extra $400 from the feds, for 9 months. Not much incentive to go out and find work.

Depends what industry you are in. Tremendous money in some areas and impossible to make a living in some during Covid. The stimulus is needed.

Indeed. Spend spend spend. People once again will be making more on unemployment than actually working. Till September. Incredible right? September. Kick back and collect nearly $1000 a week...and then what do you possibly think happens in September???? Ahhhh you guessed more extended unemployment payments till 2022. Why stop at September just let it go for a decade or 2. Why limit the trillions to a few trillion. We all know its going to be needed for decades so just imply an unlimited spending bill and give everyone free handouts forever.

I'll be honest UBI will never ever be a reality. Its basically all talk and no follow through. Yes they are doing test groups in some areas in the US but it will never come to light.

TLRY is already up 100% for the year, will be interesting if this sector ones back to life but I would be careful in that these stocks can lose momentum very quickly

Buy the etf MJ to stay diversified in that sector

True. Like the hospitality industry - especially here in the Sunshine State.

Low level workers can always go to WallyWorld. Mid/Upper level nah.
