This thread is amazing, 13 years and 2 major busts that supposed to happen like once every 1000s of years or so

  4. With so many people wearing masks while waiting in line at the bank, it makes ya wonder who 's there to rob the bank and if those people are having second thoughts as they probably wonder who else is there to do the same. Then ya start to wonder if the tellers, who are also wearing masks, really are tellers.

"Markets have consistently experienced once in a 100-year events every five years" – Paul Tudor Jones

There are so many different kinds of 1 in 100 year events, that they happen more often than most people expect.

Interesting topic. For instance, what would be the odds of three boom/busts in two decades (without the constant intervention and policy errors creating these bubble/bust dynamics).

I think 3 boom bust cycles in 2 decades should be about average. Even going back before the Fed was formed, i think it is Jim Rogers who often points out that recessions have been happening about every 5 to 7 years since the US was founded. I think this 11 year run we had was a record long run caused by low interest rates.

These are some of the boom bust events i remember since i was born in the early 70s:

1970s oil price shock (My father garaged his 3L car and bought a 1.2L)
1981 gold bubble and crash (I remember my father bought some gold coins)
    1987 crash.
1991 recession (House prices fell 33% in the UK and interest rates skyrocketted My sister got her house repoed)
2000 crash (My tech stock options (peak value 250K) became worthless and i was out of work)
2008 crash. (I made about 1 million USD day trading futures)
2017 Bit coin mega bubble and crash.
    2020 stock market crash.

There are many others boom/busts in my lifetime but i dont have personal experience of so cant recall them that well.
