Exact same for me, ive atleast learned in this market to go small early,(cause i lose money most of the time early) but i still find i cant resist chasing yesterdays theme before it shows what its doing..... my predictions are real accurate so long as i can hold out for the first hour or two and let it set up, but then on days like yesterday with BTU it never set up just went straight moonshot, so it makes me want to chase.
Good call, ive noticed the same thing, the thing is, i feel quilty only working a 2 hour day like i should be doing more during the day, but thing i never appreciate is that its the 2 hours before the open that makes your trading day, not the 2 hours after. I could work till 10:30 at night but if i wasnt prepared for that days setups and i didnt hit them at the right time it isnt going to help me, so just make sure you put in the work early, so that 2 hours into the day you are in watch mode,(watching/adding to ideas) not "find a trade" mode. Trying to find something thats not there 2 hours in. I use trade-ideas as a scanner for stocks making the biggest move, and you will definitely notice if you use it, the stocks that make the 10-20% moves in the first couple hours rarely hit new highs after that, so if your buying breakouts past that time your toast.
now... that run up has caused me to hesitate but normally I like that double top set up there on es...low conviction now though
Just added some ES short at 1970 that i took off earlier, stopout if we take out the highs of that roll.
added more short ES here, will blow half my profit if we take out that roll, but its setting up down.
Flat ES locked it in, higher lows forming and a pullbvack off that low, most likely im a pussy but i know not to fight it.
that last sharp bounce on both ES and crude spooked me though..I think its just chop for a while now..though I try to make every trade a learning experience and also to feel the temperament of the market...cant really feel it unless your are in it live in a trade
Usually try to hold through the first roll, then react from there..... i blow alot of trades not holding till the end of the day but ive found it more painful watching "potential" profits melt, then watching trades that i blow, LOL.
