Huh? Google branding their own box... to sell at Walmart... without Windoze! Google's developing their own operating system. Come to think of it, I think this is old news. I'll check the web.
Wow, I guess this is kind of old news, but it looks like M$oft is gonna be seeing some serious rivalry in the near future. Here's a taste... http://www.emergic.org/archives/2004/10/08/
This is really interesting too... http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20051117.html Does M$oft even have a business model to compete with any of this? hmm... Don't think I'd be a future ms stock holder.
This is great news...I would love to dump Microsoft and would do so in a heartbeat. Everything Google I have tried is great...anyone using Google's Picasa? I love it...and free! Even the hiring at Google is unconventional...interesting questions on their test given to applicants include http://www.internetnews.com/bus-news/article.php/3415911 "This space left intentionally blank. Please fill it with something that improves upon emptiness," and... "What's the coolest hack you've ever written?" Another says: "What's broken with Unix? How would you fix it?"
I already dumped Outlook e-Mail and Contacts in favor of Gmail, and am looking forward to Google's implementing a decent calendar/task list feature. It is much more convenient to keep information online, and be able to access it from any system capable of running a Web browser. A simple, easy-to-configure OS, coupled with web-based apps, could challenge Windows' desktop dominance.
