    Google Compliance

Google has revealed the measures it will take to comply with the European Commission's antitrust decision over its Android operating system (a decision that also involved a $5 billion fine, against which Google is appealing.) Google will now allow manufacturers to make phones that use non-Google versions of the operating system, even if they also make phones with Google's Android apps on them. Manufacturers will also be able to license Google's app suite without having to preinstall Google Search or the Chrome browser. Google

Google opens up. Google CEO Sundar Pichai openly discussed the company's controversial Dragonfly project - a plan to develop a censored search engine for the Chinese market. Pichai claimed tests of the secret software revealed Google could serve 99% of user queries while adhering to China's strict censorship policies. Google execs have maintained that Dragonfly is an internal project testing a hypothetical Chinese product, but leaked memos have shown the goal was to have a search engine ready to go if the Chinese government approved it. A number of employees have resigned in protest of Dragonfly, saying it represents a forfeiture of Google's values. Fortune

Google is breaking down on the weekly candle with the daily candle trading within a strong price channel between the trendline support and the 50-day EMA above. Both of these have alerts set for when the price breaks, touches or bounces off these areas. The weekly candle is also breaking down hard.

Google workers reject Silicon Valley individualism in walkout
    [IMG]
The most remarkable aspect of the walkout at Google last week may not have been that an estimated 20,000 people participated or that it had global reach. It was the way the organizers identified their action with a broader worker struggle, using language almost unheard-of among affluent tech employees. (New York Times)

Support remains right near the blue trendline here. A double doji type setup forming on the weekly candle as well. Screen Shot 2018-11-09 at 11.21.12 AM.png

    Worker Power

Former Googler Laura Nolan, who was one of those to quit over the company's Pentagon dealings, has written a piece for the Financial Times in which she hits back at characterizations of dissenting workers as anti-patriotic bullies. Firstly, she notes, these companies are extraordinarily powerful, so they are no victims. Secondly, many of their workers, such as her, aren't American anyway, so they have no reason to do things they don't want to out of patriotism. FT

    Google Sued

A coalition of European consumer organizations is filing complaints against Google, under the tough General Data Protection Regulation, about the company's tracking of people's location. The groups say Google "uses various tricks and practices to ensure users have [location-tracking] features enabled and does not give them straightforward information about what this effectively entails."
