Maybe I have this wrong, but it seems that your red days are correlated with trend days? I have been following your journal off and on from the beginning, and it seemed to be correlated with the indices trending (i.e., INDU today). Or, have you lined up the red days (you haven't had many) and compared for TA similarities or certain prevalent emotions? Can you replay any days on a simulator where you work? I only ask, because until I defined the real problem, I couldn't begin to improve my trading results, well let's say being "consistent". I am curious if there are any mentors where you work or are you just left to sink/swim, figure it out as you go? Keep at it and keep up the good work!
Thanks satchel! To be honest, I've taken losses on the day the indicies were trending and days that they weren't. All of my biggest losses have come because of blunders that were cause by my ignorance. I would "force" the trade so to speak. Yes, we do have mentors here. They're here for every step of the way, but there are somethings, as I'm sure you know, that you have to figure out yourself. Well this morning was an experience. I left my house 45 min earlier than usual and I arrived at the same time I normally would. I hate traffic..... Good Trading!!
It was bad today. I managed to lose $107 and spent $100 losing it. That brings my loss over the past 3 days to about $800. I think that today broke the camel's back. Losing $500, then another hundred or so, and then losing another two hundred bux is starting to weigh in. I think that I shouldn't trade after a large loss. It seems to start a losing streak. Whatever... I had 19 buy executions, 24 sell executions, and 129,068 shares traded.
Don't beat yourself up too much, Monday is a new week. Besides look on the bright side, the Expo is this weekend.
Good morning! I'm movtivated and determined to be in the green today. After a week like last week, I've definetly learned my lesson. I've been contemplating starting my own team. Although I have no idea how I'll go about doing that, I'm open to any advice. So if there are any team leaders out there that have some advice that they'd like to share, I'd be more than happy to listen. Good Trading!
Once after I reported a string of losses on these boards, Banjo was kind enough to ask the question: "Do you have a lousy employer (i.e. trading plan), or are you a lousy employee (not following the plan)?" Actually, at that time we both really sucked. After two years I've gotten to the point where it is only me who sucks. Last month I had 10 trades. Three of them did not follow the plan. 50% of my losses came from those three bad trades. This month i've had five trades so far. One was bad (didn't follow the plan). All I want to do is finish the month without any more bad trades. So now i'll ask you: Do you have a lousy employer, or are you a lousy employee?
My first up day since since last week. Thank GOD! I forgot what it was like! Everybody knows that today was dead as all hell. NT normally trades about 26 million shares, but today it traded just shy of 10 million. I had a couple of good trades in HPQ and MOT that added to my bottom line so I was pretty happy about that. I definetly got reemed on executions because of the low volume. I made $226.20 and spent about $75 making it. I had 16 buy executions, 12 sell executions, and 62,680 shares traded. Tomorrow will be a better day!!
GoodPunk, you had mentioned previously that you are charged commissions on an execution-basis, as opposed to a per-share basis. Based upon your trading today (16 buys + 12 sells for $75), your net per-execution cost is ~$2.70 per trade. Is this correct? PS. Thanks for the PM, I would be interested in finding out more about HLV. Are you going to the Expo this week? I'm staying at the Marquis all week.
I'll definetly be at the expo TOMORROW!! Feb 15. We can talk about stuff then! Which reminds me.....Anybody else want to meet at the expo???
Hey guys! I didn't post an entry this morning because I was trying to get the expo. It was pretty cool. Either way, it's really slow right now. NT has barely printed today. These stocks sure don't behave the way they used to.
