Poor sap...but if you submit a market order in an illiquid market, aren't you just begging to be crucified??
Actually as a retail customer, I have found that I often get better than bid/offer when i do so. Sometimes my size is even bigger than posted bid offer (but not by a lot).
Of course, most of us would due to the HFT guys jumping in front by some amount, then laying the trade off with another series. Don
