No props in the Bay area. Small # of private traders here as well. So Cal has more props and private trading community is much larger.
Screw prop trading. Just open a retail and futures account. Prop trading takes a percentage of profits and charges a desk fee. They will not teach you how to trade either. They will make you pay for high priced, basic knowledge. If you want to learn to trade, just read through the ET forums, find people with real knowledge and read what they say. There are gems on this forum if you filter through the noise. I would say 5% of the traders on here are for real and aren't afraid to share info every once in a while.
i know this is kinda old but i think vtrader is in the area too? I am in this area also, in my final year of my BA.
