And yet another fact-- But rifles are used in only a small fraction of murders committed using firearms. FBI data shows that about 11,000 people were killed using guns in 2016, the majority of whom – over 7,100 people – were killed using handguns. The vast majority of nonfatal crimes involving guns are also committed using handguns. Kashuv touches on this point in his tweet by referencing a 2012 study by a New Jersey intelligence center that works in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). “Semiautomatic handguns are the weapon of choice for mass shootings,” the report notes.
According to the article, the suspect had several juvenile offenses. According to Indiana law, he should not have been able to purchase a firearm until 23 because of this. Since he was sold a gun at 20, the likely problem is the limiting of the juvenile data from the selling authority. But one should go after the selling store(s) and determine how it broke down. Regardless, this, plus his actions don't make him a "responsible" gun owner.
So as can be seen, getting rid of AR 15's is not really Progressive's goal. Rather, it's to get rid of all guns. You should be able to see then why we fight so hard to keep AR 15's legal in this country.
The US is the ONLY country in the world that needs so much guns to (try to but does not succeed to) keep it safe. Many countries can keep it much safer without any guns at all.
This is a stupid statement, but I'm not surprised it was you who made it. Remove all of the inner city, illegal firearm killing that comes from gang wars and the like. Then recalculate. It is much easier to keep things "safe" when there are no guns. Obviously. The true question is how to get rid of guns that are already in circulation - something none of you can seem to reason out.
@Tsing Tao has always fixated on the idea of being a hero killing a criminal. Every damn story of some outlier event he posts. He says he dad was a cop which is even worse. He exhibits dunce-level grasp of firearms over and over.
imagine thinking servants of the state should be the only ones with firearms lmao... if you're not an American, your peasant-serf DNA may make it incapable of grasping the importance of a populace's ability to rise up against its government. I really like Brazil's president Bolsonaro. Prior to 2019 their gun laws were like an american liberal's wet dream. It will be interesting to see how the statistics pan out as they continue to loosen their grip and make it easier for common people to defend themselves from criminals. "Because an armed people will never be enslaved"
Mall ninja soldarity Made any more "tactical" modifications to old rifles recently? The shorter barrels mean when a deer sneaks up on you then you can spin around faster I hears I must re-read your pathetic little dick posts what's the name of that forum again?
The truth about personal carry guns is that they make men weak minded. Resolving conflict is a skill we learn as kids and like any skill, you must practice it or it fades. Dozens of options are removed from the mental tool box over time. Man with a hammer yadda yadda. Guns of this kind diminish men, not make them better. They create the havoc they are purporting to prevent.
