My strategy on the entirety of the Ukraine situation was owning stocks that are leveraged plays on Oil and Gold/Silver. It's been a really, really good trade. The task here is to maximize gains knowing at some point there may be a big reversal day on news. However, there is also a better then average chance of huge upside in either area on news as well.
so you are buying on fundamentals. Just curious, would you be buying oil, gold, etc if the technicals weren’t good as they are, but with the war still a factor?
My main Oil holdings are companies that were making huge money at $70-80 Oil never mind $125. So the idea is buy things that should be good for 1-2 more years and stickhandle around short term technicals and news best I can. The miners I'm still taking a short term approach and was mainly just day trading them until late last week. I have a few underwater holds from 2021 that I just held hoping for a rally like this to rescue them. Some stocks I just dumped at a large loss early 2021 ( eg Kinross ) when it became clear nothing good was happening.
