Goldman CFO: 'In Discussions' With Treasury To Repurchase Warrants

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by terence0001, Jul 14, 2009.

  1. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) CFO David Viniar said the bank is "in discussions" with Treasury to repurchase government warrants, but gave no timeline on when they might be repaid, speaking on a press conference call Tuesday morning.

Goldman Sachs repaid Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP, funds last month.

Viniar also stated there has been little change in risk taking across the year, and risk taking has been in "very, very liquid products."

Given the change in the financial landscape, and less competition, Viniar said that there "is definitely less risk capital available in the market."

Goldman Sachs reported second quarter earnings Tuesday of $4.93 a share.
