"Golden Arches" Project

  1. I have gone around the newsletters and the internet...just to see what is going on in the EUR/AUD...the longs are exiting and the shorts are entering...but this is just retail and does not effect what the BANKS want to do...

anyways the EUR/AUD is costing me $3,477.60 just now in unrealized and the Daily CR is strong as ever and indicating short...this was not a pair to go heavy in...its ATR is much to wide...

Sorry was out for a while.. then of course computer troubles.

ES, good to see its the same as expected, I will post the source for others.

Ski, I still haven't had a chance to look at your amibroker code to do a compare, the version I will post is the mods made to the original links posted by ES.

Note that I am not the original author, all props to "ang" as quoted in the source. I have simply modded it to include:
    a) user selectable Series (O,H,L,C)
    b) Period based on Bars (regardless of timeframe, originally hours)
    c) order (highest degree term) defaults to 2.
and a whole bunch of other grief that I can't remember right now.

Please remember, MT4 is new to me so I don't know jack.

I just realized I should be able to zip and then upload.

Unzip these 2 files (source and executable) into the following directory:
    C:\Program Files\MetaTrader - North Finance\experts\indicators
    (or equivalent)

That should be it. Play with the indicator.

Ski, if you can give a second opinion on its accuracy that would be great too!

Note, that this was just an exercise for me to confirm the accuracy of my indicator in WL, although I am starting to really like working in MT4.

    thx

  3. fifo,

I wish the dealers using the MT4 charting software as their charting platform...would be located in the USA and CFTC licensed and NFA registered...

Oh...how I wish I could send North Finance 11k or 17k (according to the outcome of EUR/AUD)...but I cannot risk it...could you imagine tracking 55 pair for virgin arches...there would always be a trade, whenever you opened your atm machine :)

Please forgive me, I am discussing dealers, which is going against this thread...but its late at night...here in Denver...

I could never send so much money to cypress...i noticed they had an IB here in the USA...but a .biz domain and egold....really? too much...(I pay my taxes..and I pay them quarterly)

MM is right on the money concerning MT4 dealers...

ES, yes there definitely would be a way but I haven't come across it in my readings yet. Its fairly simple to do in WL. One thing MT4 does is define all timeframes in terms of minutes, i.e.:
    hourly = 60
    daily = 1440
    etc.
so in theory 299*1440/5 should give you the daily equivalent on the 5 min chart of 299 days. But of course the value is not accurate as there are more points to "regress" resulting in a similar but different curve.
(you would set your chart to 5min, add the cr indicator but set the barperiod to be 299*1440/5)

Maybe someone versed int MT4 can shed some light on how to plot a daily indicator on in an intraday timeframe specific to MT4.

    thx

  5. oh gawd...I am glad you, MM, walterjennings, TV and skibumm are working with this part of the project...there is so much to realize and to check...I simply get lost with my approach to new things...The passion is the only driving force that keeps me going...

I really appreciate you guys...and I now have blue lines in MT4 that I am becoming accustomed to. I do not think all three are really necessary...but skibumm had an observation about the squeeze of the CR..that I hope he shares...he is able to adjust the periods...

as we expand, everybody will find their way....

Regression with a curve is becoming a VALID method and you are becoming history....contributers...

Also, I think you asked the question of shifting the CR indicator to the right to predict future movement. Note that although this can be done the nature of the CR indicator is that of forecasting.

When we use linear regression we want to find a line y=mx+b such that it best fits the data series (least squares). Once we find that line, knowing the formula, we can solve for y for as many points into the future. Of course, more points out means less accuracy.
Similarly, the CR indicator is regression of order 2 or the answer to:
Find a formula satisfying Ax2(squared) + Bx + C = y such that it fits the curve best (least squares). A, B, C are all unknown, but once solved we can use the same equation to forecast into the future.
The CR indicator posted will work for orders 1 thru 8. Anything greater than 2 is not recommended but looks like you had a crystal ball!

So you see, it is better to solve for future points using the existing CR formula instead of simply shifting the curve to the right. Think of a linear regression line sloping upwards. Solving for future point will extend the line upward, shifiting it will simply move it to the right.

I should have paid attention in high school, and I would have if they would have just taught me this application! Will keep you posted on more findings. Back to WL.

  7. fifo,

remember your work will be read by thousands in the future if you choose to publish and share in ET...

God bless you and your endeavors.

    Michael B.

I now realize that I was so wrong to delete the earlier threads. I am man enough to admit my mistakes. Please forgive me...I will not delete this thread AS I HAVE NO RIGHT.

    ES,

are you long or short EURAUD and at what price? I am trying to post a pic but have trouble with my other machine (MT4), it may be interesting. Just watched it dip right into support and bounce back.
