Gold is such a pathetic hedge(or a non-hedge even)

  1. Lets see. One for my IB chats so I can stay in touch with my homies. Another one for the YouTube so I can watch kitten videos. Finally, one for a BIG intraday chat of spooz so my boss thinks I’m working.

  2. with only 3 monitors, I can assume you topped out as an associate sales trader selling cash overnight rates. :D

  4. well there's two things -- your product group and then your seniority. You could be the greatest cash equity sales trader but you'll top out at 4 screens max, most likely. Probably won't have budget for bbg anywhere either unless you're sr (vp+).

    You are wrong.

When the market is bad, people buy gold ( and sell USD).
Also when the market is bad, people buy USD (and sell gold).
    Ended up people get confused.
When the market movement is crazy, gold price movement will be crazy.
When the market movement is crazy, USD price movement will be crazy.
So don't attempt to use logic and don't do hedging.

Simply do day trading on gold.

  9. This is why I bought one bitcoin. My money is safe now.

Seriously, materials stocks and mining stocks are an OK hedge.

Gold mostly follows the dollar and yields. There is an opportunity cost to hold gold over something that pays interest. Today gold provided a partial hedge for equities.
